Pride Week Activities
O! what a day we've got planned!
Sunday, June 28th, will be sunny, warm and dry for the 11th annual Lesbian/ Gay Freedom March and GayFest!
Line-up for the March will begin at the southeast corner of Goodale Park starting at 11 AM; step-off will be at 1 PM. The Rally at Bicentennial Park will begin when the March arrives, between 1:30 and 2 PM. Featured speakers at the Rally will be Miriam Ben-Shalom, director of National Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Veterans of America, and Kevin Berrill, Anti-Violence Coordinator for National Gay & Lesbian Task Force. Comedian Suzanne Westenhoefer will emcee and perform as well. Also speaking briefly will be Stonewall Executive Director, Dr. Phyllis Gorman; Ed Pfeiffer, president of Stonewall's Board of Directors; and Liselotte Sherwood, coordinator of Parents & Friends of Lesbians & Gays/Columbus.

Lesbian/Gay writers perform twice in June
The Columbus Gay Writers Guild will present two public readings during Pride Month. On June 14th, members of the Guild will present poetry on leather/ SM themes at the monthly meeting of the Columbus Chapter/National Leather Association. This meeting, set to begin at 2 PM, will be held at The Exile, 893 North High Street.
On June 25th, the Guild will present its Pride Reading at the Stonewall Community Center, 47 West Fifth Avenue. It begins at 7 PM, and refreshments will be available. For this event, an open reading will follow the main reading. This event will be ASL interpreted, and the site is wheelchair-accessible. Ecumenical service planned for Goodale Park on March day
The Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual People of Faith Coalition will sponsor an Ecumenical Worship Service on Sunday, June 28th, beginning at 11 AM. The service will be held at the gazebo by the pond in Goodale Park, next to the line up site for the March. Those coming from out-of-town are invited to arrive early and take part in the service; Columbus residents are invited to join in as well. Tarot readings reveal revenues for revelers
The Stonewall Union Community Center will be the site of a Tarot Party on Monday, June 22 at 7:30 PM, featuring licensed astrologer and Tarot reader Holly Featherstone. A $15 cover charge for the event includes a Tarot reading. Proceeds from the party will benefit Stonewall Union. Become Proud and Powerful at workshop
“Becoming a Pride-Filled, Powerful Lesbian/Gay Man" is the title of a workshop to be led by Howard Fradkin of Affirmations: A Center for Psychotherapy & Growth on Tuesday, June 23rd. The workshop will begin at 7:30 PM at the Stonewall Community Center, 47 West Fifth Avenue.
On Friday, June 26, at 9 PM, a Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Wiccan circle will gather at Bicentennial Park. Participants will perform a ritual to celebrate the summer solstice and invoke good weather for the March and Gayfest. For details, call 268-3953 (vocie/TTY).
Candlelight Vigil honors victims of anti-Gay/Lesbian violence
A candlelight Vigil honoring those who have been the victims of anti-Lesbian/Gay violence will be held on Friday, June 26th, in front of the Federal Building, the corner of Spring and High Streets. The Vigil, which will begin at 11 PM, will feature performances by both the Columbus Gay Men's Chorus and the Columbus Women's Chorus. The Vigil is sponsored by the Anti-Violence Project of Stonewall Union. For more information, call the Project at 299-7764.

Columbus Eagle to blow its cover for March
In support of Stonewall Union's major event of the year, the Columbus Eagle bar at 232 North Third Street will be donating all cover charges collected on Saturday, June 27, to Stonewall to help subsidize the costs for the Lesbian/Gay Freedom March and Gayfest. The Eagle is particularly popular among Gay men, featuring videos, a sit-down bar, a dance floor, a pool room, a diverse clientele, and a party atmosphere. Interested parties can call the Eagle's info line at 299-5555 for details about the bar. Help the Eagle help the March on Pride Saturday.

Bisexuals celebrate Pride with reception
B.A.M.B.I. (By All Means Bi) and Bi-Lines will co-host a Bisexual Reception on Saturday, June 27th, 8-9:30 PM, at the Stonewall Community Center, 47 West Fifth Avenue. The evening offers Bisexual women and men an opportunity to meet one another and to learn more about the two organizations. You can get more information about these groups or the reception by calling 292-6200 (OSU G/L/B Student Services office) and asking about B.A.M.B.I.
This dynamic, experiential workshop will help you get more in touch with the Chem-Free picnic at Highbanks, dance following
roots of pride and shame as a Lesbian or Gay man, and will help you to become more comfortable being pride-filled. The workshop will provide opportunities to practice being a powerful Gay man or Lesbian.

The 10th Ohio Roundup is sponsoring chemical-free events June 27th for Lesbian and Gay members and friends of Twelve Step recovery programs. A picnic will be held at Highbanks Metro Park from 11 AM-3 PM. "Fellowship and space provided-you bring everything else."
That evening, there will be an alcohol-free, smoke-free dance, scheduled for St. Stephen's Church at the corner of Woodruff and High Streets. It runs from 9 PM to 1 AM, and features a 50/50 raffle, refreshments and door prizes. Admission is $3. Parking available at OSU Garage B. The site is wheelchair-accessible.
